The Korean Broadcasting System Awards KWA for its Promotion of Human Social Welfare and Cultural Development

Korea, March 2008- KBS Award BoardKorean Broadcasting System (KBS) selected the Korean Women’s Association (KWA) to receive its 14th Overseas Compatriots Award in the category of social services, and held the award ceremony at the KBS-TV Public Hall in Korea on the 5th of March 2008.

Out of seven million ethnic Koreans abroad, the KBS Overseas Compatriots Award is presented to spur on and unearth those overseas Koreans who contribute to the promotion of human social welfare and cultural development. Senator Paull Shin received the Special Prize two years ago for not only his accomplishments in conquering adversities with adoption, but also recognition as the first Korean elected to the Washington State Senate, Vice President Pro Tempore. Affordable Housing Finance selects Korean Women’s Association (KWA) as oneAHF Feature Photo of the Nation’s Best Senior Housing Developments.

Federal Way, Wash. July 2010- According to Affordable Housing Finance magazine, Senior City Apartments addresses the housing and transportation needs of its elderly residents. The community is built adjacent to the Federal Way, WA Transit Center, a 24 hour hub for the regional transit system.

AHF received more than 140 nominations and selected 33 finalists in nine categories: family, green, historic rehab, master-planned/mixed-use, preservation, rural, seniors, special-needs and urban. KWA’s Senior City is chosen as one of four senior’s finalist.

Developments were chosen on AHF’s assessment of characteristics such as, impact on the community by adding substantially to the affordable housing stock or improving the immediate social or economic fabric; and employing a cost-effective or innovative design or construction, including energy efficiency and sustainable development.
