Senior City Apartments is a nationally recognized, low- income senior housing development is a mixed use housing and social services project. Developed in 2010, Senior City project was a partnership between a transit authority and a non-profit agency and is an energy-efficient sustainable building designed to create a healthy and secure place for residents. Of the 62 one-bedroom apartments, seven are set aside for disabled elderly residents. The apartments range in size from 539-663 sq. ft.

The project was designed to minimize the dominance of cars and encourage public transportation (inherent in the proximity to the Federal Way Transit Center next door, private van on site for resident use, and bike racks), maximize green space (by providing a green roof terrace, green lawn entry terrace with seat walls that double as planter walls, and a vegetated swale) and allow for well-designed apartments that have easy access to the green roof terrace as well as lots of natural light, ventilation and views.

The complex includes 3,125 square feet of commercial space for the KWA Community Center which provides social services to residents and others living in Federal Way and South King County. Services will include translation and interpretation, computer training, recreation, van transportation and transportation assistance, senior meals, English as a Second Language (ELS) classes, home care and CHORE services, and well as community health care and referral services.

Senior City is within ½ mile of the center of Federal Way and is within easy walking distance to stores, restaurants, banks, a pharmacy and medical buildings. Multiple bus lines are easily accessible to residents.
