Thank You City of Tacoma

May 31, 2019

Every year the month of May is acknowledged as Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month – a celebration of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States.  This commemorative designation started out as a week in 1977 but was expanded to the entire month of May by Congress in 1990. Here at KWA, we regularly pay homage to our founding members who in 1972 created a place of welcome for many isolated and lonely community members. As May comes to an end, we are especially aware of their contributions.

In celebration of Asian and Pacific Islander American Heritage Month, the Korean Women’s Association Board, on behalf of the agency’s staff and clients, applauds its partner, the City of Tacoma, for recognizing Asian and Pacific Islander American Heritage Month.  KWA has a long-standing relationship with the City of Tacoma to serve the diverse communities of our area. Our more than four decades of collaboration with the City of Tacoma is a  testament the power of partnerships.  Thank you Tacoma for this proclamation and for your leadership of the City we call home.
