Senior Activity Centers

KWA oversees the operation of two senior centers in partnership with the City of Tacoma:

  • Beacon Senior Activity Center
  • Lighthouse Senior Activity Center

Center operating hours are 8 AM to 3 PM, Monday through Friday, (excluding City recognized holidays) with a daily lunch provided by Catholic Community Services ($3.50 suggested donation).

Emergent Services provided during pandemic while the Centers remain closed:

  • Distribute and deliver to-go boxed lunches to participating seniors
  • Virtual activities such as Yoga, SAIL classes, etc. (Please contact each center for detailed info.)

To participate in programs offered at the Centers, participants need to register through each center, be residents of the City of Tacoma residents and are age 60 and older.

Recreational programs include karaoke, bingo, arts and crafts, quilting, and wood carving. A variety of health, fitness, and personal enrichment activities are offered to encourage an active lifestyle, independence, healthy nutrition, and financial planning. Other services provided include benefits enrollment assistance and Elder Abuse Victim Advocacy.

Free van transportation to both activity centers is available to seniors living within Tacoma. Contact either Lighthouse or Beacon senior activity centers directly to arrange transportation.

Centers follow the Tacoma Public School District’s recommendation for late start and closures during inclement weather. View the inclement weather policy
