Programs in King County Only
Caregiver Connections and Support
Funding for investment in this program is provided by the King County Veterans, Seniors, and Human Services Levy (VSHSL) managed by the Adult Services Division (ASD) of King County’s Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS).
The purpose of this strategy, SE 4: Caregiver Connections and Support, is to provide
services and resources for Family Caregivers of Seniors and Adults with Disabilities in
King County. Family Caregivers are often working in paid employment, while
simultaneously raising children and caring for relatives; others are spouses or partners
who themselves are aging and may be physically and mentally challenged to provide the
required care without support and help. This strategy aims to reduce burnout, isolation,
and stress associated with caregiving by increasing access to connections and support.
Through the services provided through this strategy, Family Caregivers sustain their role
as caregivers and improve the quality of life for both them and the individuals for whom they
provide care.
Participant Eligibility and Focus Population
Eligible participants are Family Caregivers of Seniors living in King County, particularly
low-income, Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC), Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,
Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ+), immigrant, and refugee communities—populations that
often face significant barriers to accessing resources and services.
Some of the services offered by the program include:
- Information and Assistance/Referral
- Caregiver consultation
- Support group for caregivers
- Training for Caregivers
